The Embodied Approach

What’s the How?

  • Reward-Based, Positive Reinforcement Dog Training

We prioritize positive reinforcement, a scientifically proven approach that encourages desired behaviors through rewards. This method promotes a joyful and cooperative learning environment for your canine companion.

  • Office Hours

Office hours are established times throughout the week when current clients can schedule a 15-minute phone call with me to discuss any problems coming up while working through training exercises. This time can also be used to send recordings of your training sessions so I can provide immediate feedback on the session and what to do next to progress. Office hours help keep communication lines open, especially for those dealing with difficult and sometimes emotionally draining behaviors with their dogs. In your first session, we can discuss how office hours can benefit you specifically!

  • Safe and Judgement-Free Training Environment

Creating a safe and judgment-free space is crucial for effective learning. We ensure that both you and your dog feel comfortable and supported throughout the training process. Our goal is to make training a fun and rewarding experience for everyone involved.

Personalized 1:1 Training

$125/hour session

Additional travel fee outside the city of Denver, CO may apply

This is our more traditional dog training style lesson. You can schedule one lesson at a time at your convenience. During your lesson, we review your training goals and how to best work with your specific dog. I will provide homework for you to practice and when you are ready, you can schedule another follow-up appointment. We will map out an individualized training plan, provide homework exercises and troubleshooting, and a detailed summary of our lesson and how to implement it. This service is offered virtually and in-person.

Recommended for: First-time clients who do not want to commit to an entire program…yet. Former clients who would like a refresher and/or would prefer less “hand-holding” support.

Positive Behavior Intervention Program

$490 (valid for 4 weeks)

Additional travel fee outside the city of Denver, CO may apply

This program is for individuals and their dogs working through fearful, reactive, or aggressive behaviors. This may include leash reactivity, sound or touch sensitivities, excessive chewing, demand barking, lunging, and pulling. Our goal is to address the underlying emotions for your dog’s reactivity, implement management strategies, provide appropriate alternative behaviors, and offer a safe, judgment-free space for you to process and learn about your dog’s behavior. Plans are tailored specifically to you and your dog’s needs. Offered virtually and in-person with weekly Office Hours for daily support.

Recommended for: People with fearful and reactive dogs. People who prefer daily collaboration and support

My promise to you: Working with fearful and reactive dogs (and their people) is one of my greatest joys, however, it would be arrogant of me to assume that I can handle every behavior problem that comes my way. While I have been studying behavior and behavior change in animals for the past 10 years, there may be certain cases where a different trainer might be a better fit for you and your dog. In these cases, I would be honored to help you navigate the unregulated world of dog training to find an exceptional fit for you and your pup.

The First 6 Weeks of Training

$735 (valid for 6 weeks or 6 sessions)

Additional travel fee outside the city of Denver, CO may apply

Here is where we lay the groundwork for positive learning outcomes for our dogs. We will discuss how dogs learn and the power of managing our environment during that learning process. Behavior goals are tailored to the individual dog’s needs while creating a fun and safe learning environment for humans and dogs. Potential topics covered include focused attention, impulse control, building confidence, dog body language and socialization, and basic manners. Before you know it, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to create a deeper bond with your pup, a hole-free garden, and enjoy a stroll around the neighborhood without risking a dislocated shoulder. Offered virtually and in-person with weekly Office Hours for daily support*.

*The program can be tailored to you and your learning style. Ask me what this looks like!

Recommended for:  First-time dog owners, puppies, and people interested in establishing a strong foundation of behaviors with their dogs to build up over time.
